How Much Protein You Absorb And How To Increase That?

The biggest debate in the bodybuilding / fitness world has always been how much protein does a person really needs?

But, today we want to investigate a different question:

How much protein actually gets absorbed?

And how can we increased that absorption?

There is a difference between how many calories you eat and how many you actually absorb. Your body burns food at a different rate depending on its components. Protein is absorbed faster than fat, but slower than carbs.

But how much of it is getting absorbed?

A study published by Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition in 2008 answered this question for us.

Two groups of healthy male subjects were given a protein powder and the levels of their amino acid content were observed continuously during the next 24 hours.

They found that only 8- to 10 grams of liquid protein (protein shake) can be absorbed per hour!

Shocked? I sure was!

That means that when you drink a shake with 1 scoop of protein powder that contains 25 grams of protein, only 8 grams will be absorbed the following hour?!

That’s crazy!

The study also examined the amino acid levels in the body 4 hours after protein intake and they found that the levels rose only by 30%!

But, our purpose here is not to scare or terrify you, it’s to show you the solution, and we have a good one!

The answer to a faster protein metabolism is……..enzymes!

The study showed that when subjects consumed their protein shakes along with 2.5 grams of enzymes, their amino acid content still rose only by 30% after 4 hours (again, it takes your body some time to digest things).

However, after those 4 hours the amino acid levels rose all the way up by 110%! That is a huge improvement and shows that the protein was absorbed almost 4 times better!

With 5 grams of enzymes the levels were 127%. Even better!

127% versus 30%!!!

It was also shown that individual amino acid levels were a lot higher with the ingestion of enzymes.

Conclusion:

  • Only 8-10 grams of liquid protein can be absorbed in an hour
  • To increase the absorption, consume enzymes with protein

Or, try our own protein powder that has those enzymes already added for you for no additional cost.

Not only our protein is healthy and delicious, it also gets absorbed a lot faster than any other protein in the market!

This way you know for sure you are spending your money wisely and not wasting anything that doesn’t gets absorbed.
